In the context of the H2020 5G-RECORDS project, Fivecomm has developed, integrated, and showcased together with Ericsson Germany a 5G portable and open protype solution that can be easily attached to professional video cameras to be used in content production scenarios. Such solution was included as part of an end-to-end pilot that took place on the 29th of June in the magical venue of Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen.
The pilot included two portable cameras integrating our solution and a microphone connected via a private 5G network. The content was orchestrated with a media gateway specifically designed and developed for this project. The production took place in the cloud and was transmitted live to a 5G event happening in parallel in the same city.
Thanks to this major event, we have taken one step forward in the production of our prototype, which we expect can be used soon in professional content production scenarios. The solution is formed by an SDI card that is connected to the camera. This component in turn is connected to an NVIDIA Jetson Xavier that encodes the video stream and acts as main terminal. The third component is our 5G modem developed in-house, which transmits the video stream through 5G external antennas.
In Fivecomm, we believe that this solution will dramatically change the way that the media industry works nowadays, and we look forward to provide more news about our plans for this product.
