Our 5G-BROAD device integrated in drones for 5G coverage studies
On 23rd July, Fivecomm successfully integrated our 5G-BROAD (full version) device with a DJI Matrice 300 RTK drone. We designed a new case that permitted us to attach the device to the drone in a safe manner and with no interference to the onboard sensors.
In order to validate the integration of both components, in the context of the 5G-NaCAR project, we connected the 5G-BROAD prototype to the 5G network provided by Nokia and located at UPV campus.
The device executed a script to capture 5G signal parameters such as average RTT latency, RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, and upload them to a data base located at the MEC server. Such information served us to obtain coverage maps at different height levels (20, 40 and 60 meters).
This integration is a key milestone in our R&D activities. Our devices are ready to fly!
